Answer:

A. The lytic lifecycle allows viruses to reproduce more quickly but also kills the host and forces the virus to find a new host cell.

Explanation:

The lytic lifestyle of the viruses (e.g. bacteriophage) can be described through the next steps:

  • attachment and injection into the host cell (e.g.bacterial cell)
  • synthesis of the early virus proteins which break down host's DNA
  • virus uses host's machinery (for the replication, transcription and translation) to produce the rest of its proteins and to form new virus particles.
  • host cell burst and many new virus particles are released.

During the lysogenic cycle, virus does not kill the host. It integrated its DNA into host's genome and stays dormant until conditions are optimal for reproduction.

During which phase of mitosis do the nuclear membrane, nucleolus, and nucleus dissolve? metaphase prophase anaphase telophase
Mekhanik [1.2K]
Prophase
During the prophase stage of mitosis, the nucleus seems to disband itself. The nucleolus suspends itself and finally, the nuclear membrane disassembles itself. This is because of the undergoing process of copying and dividing.
Mitosis is a functional cell dividing process that helps the cells repair or rejuvenate itself because of apoptosis and other factors.

What are the two types of biological interactions?
Nimfa-mama [501]

Answer:

They can be either of the same species (intraspecific interactions), or of different species (interspecific interactions). These effects may be short-term, like pollination and predation, or long-term; both often strongly influence the evolution of the species involved. A long-term interaction is called a symbiosis.

What role did mycorrhizae play in the transition of plants to land?
Colt1911 [192]
Mycorrhizae are associations between fungi and the roots of plants, where the Fungi provides minerals to the plant. It enabled plants and fungi to be the first organisms to invade land successfully 430 million years ago. In most cases the relationship between host plants and the mycorrhizal fungus is mutualistic, or mutually beneficial. The Mycorrhizal fungi come into direct contact with plant roots and with the soil, adding to the plants ability to gather nutrients and water from the soil through the fungus.
