Conflicts throughout Europe during the late 1500s brought turmoil to the citizens. People were in search of religious freedom and economic opportunities. New England was founded and formed from English settlers in hopes for change creating opportunities as the land was available, plenty of jobs for skilled and unskilled workers and economic opportunities. The economic opportunities in New England due to the rough and rocky terrain were in shipbuilding, fishing and whaling and manufacturing.
