Answer:

An ecological deficit occurs when the footprint of a population exceeds the biocapacity of the area available to that population. If there is a regional or national ecological deficit, it means that the region is importing biocapacity through trade or liquidating regional ecological assets.

all other factors (concentration, solute size, etc.) being equal, which type of solute does a cell tend to pull inside?
Soloha48 [4]

Answer: Positively-charged solutes

Explanation:

The excess of negative charge on the cytosolic side of the plasma membrane tends to pull positively charged solutes into the cell. Specifically, a variety of negatively charged inorganic and organic ions (anions), including nucleic acids, proteins, and many cell metabolites, maintain this relatively constant "positive pull" at the surface of the cell.

why is gene regulation necessary in the development of multicellular organisms? Use a specific example to support your argument.
weqwewe [10]

Answer:

Gene regulation refers to the regulation of expression of a particular gene in a cell that is, it increases or decreases the expression of a particular set of genes in a particular cell.

In multicellular organisms, gene regulation plays a crucial role in cell differentiation and maturation.

It enables the formation of different types of cells or tissues from a single type of stem cells that is, it enables the formation of a multicellular organism from a single cell zygote.

For example, muscle cells, nerve cell, skin cell et cetera all arise from a single-celled zygote. It is possible due to highly regulated gene expression.

All cells contain the same genetic information (DNA) but different sets of genes are expressed in different specialized cells.
