Racial segregation in the United States, as a general term, refers to the segregation of facilities, services, and opportunities such as housing, medical care, education, employment, and transportation in the United States along racial lines. The term mainly refers to the legally or socially enforced separation of African Americans from whites, but is also used in regards to the separation of other ethnic minorities from majority mainstream communities.[1] While mainly referring to the physical separation and provision of separate facilities, it can also refer to other manifestations such as the separation of roles within an institution. Notably, in the United States Armed Forces up until the 1950s, black units were typically separated from white units but were nevertheless still led by white officers.[2]

The poster shows how propaganda supported the war effort at home.
Kobotan [32]

The main idea of the poster is that women are being encouraged to work on the home front during the war. Women can select jobs that correspond to their interests or skills. Jobs related to wartime industries have the greatest need for workers.

The women were made aware of the variety of jobs that are available to them at their doorstep from where they may manage their homes and work together. Women are also provided with the opportunity to choose a job where they may demonstrate their skills and expertise efficiently. The women were called out for taking jobs as men were at the war front, which is creating the issue of a labor shortage to produce goods essential during the war. During wartime, major employment was given in industries that make war equipment, agriculture to produce foods, and businesses to stabilize the economy.
