What was friar Lawrence Relationship like?

Friar Lawrence was a friend of Romeo and Juliet. He thought by marrying them they feud between the Montagues and Capulets would be buried, but all it did was make it worse.

In relation to Romeo? He was a friend to Romeo (more like a father in my opinion) that thought by marrying Romeo and Juliet, that it would end the feud between the families.
