Tone, as you may know, is the general attitude an author takes in the construction of a story, essay, poem, etc. that can be determined by the author's choice of words. When we look at the essay, "Murmurs," by K.C. Cole, we see slang/informality in the author's word choice in the following sentence from the essay: "Because there's scientific gold in them there sinusoidal hills." Additionally, there are many analogies and similes the author uses in the explanation of concepts such as when the author writes "Like children going after cookies the patterns of sloshing particles left their sticky fingerprints all over the sky." As such, one way to describe the author's tone would be informal (almost playful/humorous) yet informative.

Answer:

The complete excerpt would be:

I began to realize that I should have resisted, should have refused

to let Fowler bring me out here where only other slaves could see

what happened to me. Now it was too late. It was going to be a grim

day.

Here, it is possible to see how Dana`s desires to escape give her the impulse for a really bad decision to try to escape, and between these lines it is evident that she regrets about such bad decision.

Explanation:

This excerpt belongs to the North American novel Kindred written by the author Octavia Butler who is mainly inspired by travels in time and a slavery way of life. Kindred is a story that focus on the importance of the African-American women in the XX century as a legacy for the modern cultures; taking into account really sensible topics such as equality, power, race, gender, status within society. Besides, it also takes into account the interpersonal relationships that may also occur between individuals with different characteristics or positions within society.

Identify the sentence that includes a prepositional phrase functioning as an adjective.
lisov135 [29]

A prepositional phrase takes on the role of an adjective when it comes after and describes a noun or pronoun.

What makes a sentence contain a prepositional phrase?

A prepositional phrase is one that has a preposition at the beginning and a noun or pronoun at the end. "In our house," "between pals," and "since the conflict" are a few examples of prepositional phrases.

Nouns are modified (described) by adjectives. Adjectives provide the reader with more detailed information regarding an object's color, size, shape, material, and other characteristics.

Sometimes a prepositional phrase might be understood as an adverbial phrase modifying the verb or as an adjective phrase modifying the noun it comes after. It is typically regarded as an adjective phrase in this situation. Sunlight is abundant for the plant in the window. (Names the plant.)

Describe a sentence that has two prepositional phrases.

Looking for her puppy is the woman with the blue coat. The words "in the blue coat" and "for her dog" are two examples of prepositional phrases. A prepositional phrase starts with one of the prepositions "in" or "for," and it finishes with a noun.

What’s one example of Imagery in Dulce et Decorum Est?
Angelina_Jolie [31]

Answer:

Explanation:

His “white eyes writhing in his face”, “his hanging face”, the blood jolts “gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs” — all are expressive of the tragic situation the soldiers have to face in war. So, imagery is the device the poet has employed in the poem 'Dulce et Decorum Est' to convey his anti-war message.
