I believe the correct answer is: “my tattered timetable's been long in my backpocket folded and ready to go”.

In this excerpt from Jack Kerouac’s novel “Lonesome Traveler”, the phrase from which best supports the idea that the narrator has held the same job for several years is: “my tattered timetable's been long in my backpocket folded and ready to go”. There are two things which imply that he had this job – the poor condition of the timetable (tattered) and the fact that it was already folded and ready to go .

Infer
(v.) to change or develop gradually over time →
O True
O False
Sergeu [11.5K]

Answer:

False.

Explanation:

The word "infer" is a verb that suggests a conclusion, reasoning, or deduces. It is the act of coming to a conclusion or making a judgment.

On the other hand, evolve means the act of changing or developing gradually over time.

Therefore, the given statement that "infer" means to change or develop gradually over time is false.

Do you agree that love is for the birds and it is only money that counts?
mariarad [96]
Hi!

"Love is for the birds" is the name of a song by R. Stevie Moore. The title is a phrase many people use, meaning that humans can't feel love. Also, another common phrase is that it is only money that counts, implying that the only interest in relationships is the profit one can get from it.

I strongly disagree with this way of thinking, because love is not only showed in the relationship between a man and a woman. You can see it in the love of a mother towards her son, you can see it in the love of charitable people towards the neediest, and you can even see it between a man and his dog.

The fact that some relationships are based on interest doesn't change the reality that humans can feel and show love, and money is not the biggest factor in some of them.
