2. Popular Sovereignty:This allows citizens to have a say in what happens in their country without popular sovereignty the rights of the citizens are being taken away. This would take away all political power from the people in the United States of America.

Limited Government:This makes everyone that is a citizen be treated equal. The laws also pertain to people who are of higher class or have a position in government, there are no exceptions. If any laws are broken by anyone than that person has to go to trial.

Checks and Balances:Checks and balances is the system used in government to balance out the three branches of government (judicial, legislative, executive). Each branch has control over another branch of government, this is so that no other branch of government exceeds more power than the the other branches.

Separation of Powers:Separation of powers is the division of power in government into three branches. The legislative branch consists of the senate and house of representatives,they make the laws and they can impeach officials, approve treaties and pass laws. The executive branch is the head the president is in this, they are able to veto laws, appoint federal posts, elect judges, and negotiate treaties. The judicial branch figures out if the constitution will let laws pass, if the law is unconstitutional than they can erase the law.

Republicanism:Republicanism allows voters to hold all the power in the republican system and citizens can elect representatives, such as the head of state.

Federalism:Federalism decentralizes our politics. This gives citizens more opportunities to participate. It also decentralizes our policies which lets state and federal to be able to take of different problems.

3.The amendment process is very difficult and time consuming: A proposed amendment must be passed by two-thirds of both houses of Congress, then ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the states. The ERA Amendment did not pass the necessary majority of state legislatures in the 1980s.
