The Description about how i understand the scene in which horse races are the way paul experiences and how he acts to it.

Explanation:

Paul takes note of what is around him and the grey pass one horse at a time.The sizzling and lightening makes paul's win seem exciting. Paul talks to the horse because he needs to know about it. paul is friendly to animals especially horses. Talking to horse makes him more likely to win the race as he is  gaining horse's trust.

They're biggest mistake was going through ice but they ended up having another problem which was how cold it was but they over came the cold by wearing alot of layers of clothes they also took all the wet clothes off very fast and had hot drinks often the last problem they had was drifting ice pans which could collide causing walls of ice to ride out of nowhere or to break apart throwing them into the freezing Waters far away.
