Why is Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein considered a work of science fiction when it is a representative work of the gothic gen
kkurt [141]

Answer:

B. The novel suggests that technology can create a living creature from a dead body.

Explanation:

Remember that science fiction is characterized by having a content that is based in science. Remeber that although science theories are used or mentioned they are not followed in a rigorous way. The word fiction gives us a clue, the events and things that technology permits are created by the author's imagination. Some elements described or used can be possible according to actual science. In Frankestein, the doctor uses electricity, and stuff that resembles science to give life to dead bodies, in real life this doesn't work.

What does the phrase “sporting proposition” most closely mean
VMariaS [17]

I think that the phrase "sporting proposition" means a game of chance.

It was used in this dialogue:

"Simply this: hunting had ceased to be what you call `a sporting proposition.' It had become too easy. I always got my quarry. Always. There is no greater bore than perfection." (1.96)

When you say "sport" is infers a chance of winning and losing. There is no sure outcome.

In the above lines, hunting has become a sure deal and it does not invigorate nor inspire the hunters to do better.
