Answer:

The answer is letter A) He is startled.

Explanation:

Tom, George, and Myrtle are characters in the novel "The Great Gatsby", by F. Scott Fitzgerald. George and Myrtle are married to each other, but she has been having an affair with Tom, a wealthy, and also married, man. In Chapter 7, George tells Tom he and his wife will be moving west. He implies he has noticed something about Myrtle - probably the fact that she has a lover. Tom is startled, but does not say anything that could implicate himself. He thought Myrtle would always be there, always available to be with him whenever he wanted. Realizing that she has a life of her own makes him surprised:

“I’ve been here too long. I want to get away. My wife and I want to go West.”

“Your wife does,” exclaimed Tom, startled.

“She’s been talking about it for ten years.” He rested for a moment against the pump, shading his eyes. “And now she’s going whether she wants to or not. I’m going to get her away.”

[...]

“What do I owe you?” demanded Tom harshly.

“I just got wised up to something funny the last two days,” remarked Wilson. “That’s why I want to get away. That’s why I been bothering you about the car.”

“What do I owe you?”

“Dollar twenty.”

The relentless beating heat was beginning to confuse me and I had a bad moment there before I realized that so far his suspicions hadn’t alighted on Tom. He had discovered that Myrtle had some sort of life apart from him in another world, and the shock had made him physically sick.

how are people or groups made to feel “invisible” or marginalized by society, social institutions, and/ or the majority?
Crazy boy [7]

Answer:

Social invisibility refers to a group of people in the society who have been separated or systematically ignored by the majority of the public. As a result, those who are marginalized feel neglected or being invisible in the society. It can include elderly homes, child orphanages, homeless people or anyone who experiences a sense of ignored or separated from society as a whole.[1][2][3][4]

Explanation:

The subjective experience of being unseen by others in a social environment is social invisibility. A sense of disconnectedness from the surrounding world is often experienced by invisible people. This disconnectedness can lead to absorbed coping and breakdowns, based on the asymmetrical relationship between someone made invisible and others.[5]

Among African-American men, invisibility can often take the form of a psychological process that both deals with the stress of racialized invisibility, and the choices made in becoming visible within a social framework that predetermines these choices. In order to become visible and gain acceptance, an African-American man has to avoid adopting behavior that made him invisible in the first place, which intensifies the stress already brought on through racism.[6]

Jellyfish are soft bodied, free swimming, aquatic animals. They reproduce sexually by releasing egg and sperm into the water. Th
Mademuasel [1]

Answer:

The jellyfish polyp will be a diverse combination of the parent jellyfish genetic material.

Explanation:

If jellyfish reproduced asexually (only one parent) it would be identical to that one parent, but both the sperm and egg from two separate jellyfish unite making it sexual and the parents each give 50% of the genes. There is no way that you can have twice as much genetic material as your parents. Even when there is some extra genetic material, causing a mutation, it is never twice as much genetic material.
