These are some of the declarations that shows the central theme in Nelson Mandela's Nobel Prize address "The end of Racism":

1.  Unselfish acts in defense of justice and human dignity will result in a future triumph over racism.

This declaration reflects all the efforts that Albert Luthuli, Martin Luther King, Mandela himself, and others carried on to finish the racism since a time ago, and how this movements and fights let the racism doesn't exist in the future.

2. The reward of a nation's sacrifices are not measured in monetary riches but in the values of a free society.

Mandela declared the greatest reward would be the freedom of people, children, and their happiness.

3. Good governance of a nation requires equal participation by its citizens.

One of the most important things to finish the racism was the equal rights, that each citizen could vote doesn't matter his color skin, beliefs, or his race, a good government would let the freedom of its citizens and the compliance of their rights.

Many statements reflect the  central theme of Nelson Mandela's Nobel Prize address which centered on racism. Unselfish acts in defense of justice and human dignity will result in a future triumph over racism. Individuals who spoke out against unjust circumstances like Martin Luther King among others are the example to be followed.

Also the reward of a nation's sacrifices are not measured in monetary riches but in the values of a free society because winning over apartheid  was a difficult accomplishment that required the contributions of many people. He implies that It takes courage to admit that one's past deeds were wrong so as to learn from the mistakes of the past to create a better future, in which racism does not exist.

Besides, violations of human rights is a concern of many societies because it continues to persist in different forms.

To conclude,to live in the absence of indifference, cynicism or selfishness is the standard set for citizens of all nations. Societies need to  protect the well-being of the most vulnerable.

Who attended gatsby's funeral? how and why is this significant? (contrast from the amount of people at his parties, etc to now)?
bekas [8.4K]
Nick, owl eyes a few servants and Gatsby's father attended his funeral. This is significant because everybody "loved" him when he was alive but when he died nobody really cared. He never really had friends or people that truly loved him, just people who loved the mystery he held and fancy parties he threw.

Read this quotation from the narrative:
lora16 [44]
Douglass didn't really have that much grief with his mother's death because it states he had the same emotion he would have with a stranger. A stranger to Douglass wouldn't mean that much and he wouldn't have grief. He wasn't that upset about his mother's death.

What does the word free mean to you?
Sergeu [11.5K]

Answer:

The word free means to me is that I have freedom and I am able to have the right to do anything I plead.Chief Joseph,Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi,Oskar Schindler, Rosa Parks,Nelson Mandela,Jimmy Carter,Martin Luther King Jr, 14th Dalai Lama all of these people fought for freedom and the equality and it worked.African Americans can go into stores, restaurants, and a movie theater without being judge of the color of their skin.Freedom has done wonders for America, we used to be a slave-hoarding country where we didn't believe in equal rights and we didn't see the problem in discrimination. But now, thanks to 'American Heroes' such as Martin Luther Kind Jr. and Abraham lincon, we don't discriminate, and we have equal rights for all, but freedom takes courage, we cant be free if we don't believe in ourselves and in other people and if we don't have courage. In the USA, freedom has played a huge role in the development of our unique country, but the real question is, what did our founding fathers want? Did the "big daddies" want us to all treat each other equally and without judgement and to have a simple and un-complex set of rules of which we only needed to follow? Or did they promote slavery and discrimination, I am not the best at history so I shall not answer those rhetorical questions. My main point still stands as: Is America still a "free country" or have all of our rules and laws gone to our heads imposing us from realizing that we live here for freedom and liberty. The definitions of 'liberty' and 'freedom' are very much alike, they both speak about independence and the right of speech. Therefore could "Lady Liberty" be called"Lady Freedom"?My definition of free is the right to do as you shall wish to do upon your own judgement. The dictionary's definition of freedom is "the condition of being free; the power to act or speak or think without externally exposed restraints". My interpretation of this definition is that it is the state or form of living of which you can act upon your own judgement without imperial restrictions of the actions. The difference between Siri's definition of freedom and my definition of freedom is that she says that one has the power to do something without being imposed of from the outside, and in my definition, I am stating the fact of which you can make your own choices and judgements as you wish, and with none else but your own concern. For such a small word of seven letters it has a enormous definition that can me entirely controversal, it would make more sense if the word for freedom was "afflictionmelonment" or something ridiculous like that.Equality and freedom tie into each other. One example of freedom and equality being noticed is the time of black people verses white people. It started with slavery and evolved into black people getting less rights than white people. Another example is women's voting rights, with out freedom women wouldn't have the right to vote.
