Its function is to deal with Christian non-believers, and anyone who is thought to defame the church and its teaching in any way. The most famous was the Spanish Inquisition, which stood out for its brutality and intensity.

The Spanish Inquisition was the most brutal for the reason that Muslims lived in the Spanish neighborhood for a specified period. For this reason, they often initiated inquisitorial procedures to let their people know what would happen to them if they "converted". The Inquisition had various techniques and devices for the torture of all those considered heretics. Of the gadgets, we can point out the Iron Maiden, the Copper Taurus, the Straw, the Pillar of Shame, and many others.
