Checks and balances is so that the branches of government don't over power each other,  the preamble states that we have the ability to speak our minds and that we are treated fairly and equally and that no Americans rights are not taken away from them and i don't think that our amendments will not change because they haven't changed in a long time

The Checks and Balances system was added to the Constitution to limit the government power by giving power and mechanisms to stop the government to the other powers - legislative branch and judiciary branch.
