English

Answer:

A very clear example of pride communicated in the play Antigone is the way, the King of Thebes, Creon, views himself and his powers.

Creon is a very self-absorbed king who places his rule above the god's rule, also known as Divine rule. More specifically, when Tiresias is predicting the fate of Creon, Creon insults him and calls him a false prophet who is wrong. He also calls the prophet annoying to listen to. He doesn't open himself to bad opinions about himself, especially Antigone's views. Since her's are so outspoken and so harmful to Creon's ego, he see's no other choice but to severely punish her for having her own beliefs. He also never admits that he's  disliked by others, we know this when Antigone brings up that her views are not solely coming from her head, they're spoken of by the rest of Thebes. He is a perfect example of a person with too much pride.
