In the following passage, what does commandeer most likely mean? Choose the correct answer. Davey Jones was the sneakiest pirate

that ever was, at least according to old Tom Brown. Why, that old man would sit on his stoop for hours and talk about legends of the old pirates. His eyes would twinkle while he talked of sword play, grand sea adventures, and gold. But it was always his stories of Davey Jones and his ships that excited him the most. He’d talk about Jones’ ability to commandeer a ship in the blink of an eye. One minute the ship was in port, the next, it was on its way to sea with Davey Jones as the new captain.

mixer [17]
Assonance refers to the repetition of the same vowel in neighboring words. Having that in mind, the correct answer should be twice and miles.
As you can see, both of these words have the vowel i which is read as eye in both words. The other options do not have such a repetition of the same vowel which is why they are incorrect.

Why might Shakespeare have decided to show the murder of lady Macduff and her children on stage?
galina1969 [7]
Depicting the scene onstage illustrates the horror of the murders. Witnessing the murders makes them very real and extinguishes any empathy for Macbeth's character. The act exposes who the man has become.
