"Mr. Green" is S. A subject is the person, place or thing that is doing or being something. What is Mr. Green? A person. What is he doing? He is giving.

"Gave" is V. A verb tells us what the subject of a clause or sentence is doing. Gave is the past tense of give or hand over to, which is an action.

"Bobby" is IO. An indirect object refers to someone or something that is affected by the action, but is not the primary object. It tells to whom or what the action is done. Who is the fishing rod given to? To Bobby. Indirect objects always come between the verb and the direct object.

"Fishing rod" is DO. A direct object receives the action performed by the subject. The fishing rod is first handedly receiving the action of being given.
