to design the interior surface of a huge stainless-steel tank, you revolve the curve y=x^2 on the interval 0x4 about the y-axis.
Oksana_A [137]

Answer:

W = 21.44*10⁶J

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

y = x²    (0 < x < 4)

γ = 10000 N/m³

W = ?

If we apply

y = 4² = 16 = h

y =  x²  ⇒  x = √y

then

V = π*(√y)²*dy = π*y*dy

W = (γ*V) *(16-y) = γ*π*y*dy*(16-y)

⇒  W = γ*π*∫y*(16-y)dy = γ*π*(8y²-(y³/3))

finally we obtain  (0 < y < 16)

W = γ*π*(8y²-(y³/3)) = 10000*π*(8*16²-(16³/3)) = 21.44*10⁶J

Consider the inverse function. Which conclusions can be drawn about f(x) = x2 + 2? Select three options. f(x) has a limited rang
PolarNik [594]

Answer:

f(x) has a limited range

f(x) has a maximum at the point (0, 2)

f(x) has a y-intercept at the point (0, 2).

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the function;

f(x) = x^2+2

The domain is the value of the input variables for which the function will exist. According to the expression given, the function exists on all real values of x. The same goes with range which deals with the output values. It also exists on all real values from 2 and above.

Hence f(x) have a limited range (since values less than 2 are not included compare to domain that exists on all real values) and does not have a restricted domain.

For the x intercept, x intercept occur at y = 0

substitute y = 0 into the function and get y

if y = f(x)

y = x^2+2

0 = x^2 + 2

x^2 = -2

x = 2i

Hence  f(x) does not have an x-intercept of (2, 0)

For the y intercept, y intercept occur at x = 0

substitute x = 0 into the function and get y

if y = f(x)

y = x^2+2

y = 0^2 + 2

y = 2

Hence  f(x) has a y-intercept at point (0, 2)

f(x) is at maximum if d(fx))/dx = 0

d(fx))/dx  = 2x

since  d(fx))/dx  = 0

0 = 2x

x = 0

substitute x = 0 into the function

f(x) = x^2 + 2

y = 0^2+2

y = 2

Hence f(x) has a maximum at the point (0, 2)

The perimeter of an equilateral triangle is 12\/3 cm. Find the radius, apothem and area of the equilateral triangle.
Irina-Kira [14]

Answer:

<u><em>Radius -  </em></u>4

<u><em>Apothem -  </em></u>2

<u><em>Area - </em></u>12\sqrt{3} or 20.8

Step-by-step explanation:

Try to draw out my explanation so you know what this looks like.

~~~~
This is an equilateral triangle, so all sides are the same length. The perimeter can be divided by 3 to get each side length...
12\sqrt{3}  \div3 = 4\sqrt{3}
Now that we know the side lengths, we can get this started!
~~~~

Now, an equilateral triangle has angles that all equal 60 degrees. We can bisect this into TWO special case triangles of measures 90-60-30.

4 times the square root of 3 will be the hypotenuse, and the smallest leg is always half of that. The larger leg is represented as the small leg times the square root of 3.

Small=2\sqrt{3} \\Hypotenuse = 4\sqrt{3} \\Long =6

By the way, the formula for the area can be either of the two:

A= \frac{1}{2} bh\\or\\A = \frac{1}{2} NAS

we can easily find the area using the first formula.

A= \frac{1}{2} (4\sqrt{3} )(6)\\A=12\sqrt{3}

The radius is the distance from the center to the corners & the apothem is the distance from the center to a side...

So we can divide the big triangle into a mini triangle at the bottom left/right

The height (small leg) of that triangle would be the apothem

The hypotenuse of that triangle would be the radius.

I did the math really quick because this is getting long. Anyhow, the small leg is 2 so is the apothem, and the hypotenus is 4, so is the radius

<em>Happy April Fool's btw, lol.</em>
