1) Socio Economic Status

•Great amount of people who live in poverty
->end up overdosing on one of the many prescription painkillers, methadone, or heroin itself

•people who have lower status in the economy dont have the proper education or ability to escape poverty
->resulting in taking in drugs

2) Mental Illness

•people may feel that taking these drugs will relieve stress or their problems in life

•Mental illness often leads to self medication

•being diagnosed with a mental illness can make addiction to drugs increase the risk of addiction,
->since euphoric drugs are one of the few that are relatively easy to buy/get

•often doctors are overprescribing painkillers/the patient is obtaining these prescriptions by going to several doctors

3)Others with no category

•people may be taking multiple proscription drugs, overdosing the one, or both @ the same time

•mixing medications increases overdosage-death risk by 10x's
->e.g. mixing medications+drugs, like herion

•many drugs such as alcohol and heroin increase each other's effect
->it's not unusual to see someone who has been drinking and using heroin overdose.

4) High Untreated Pain Levels

•having high pain levels & untreated conditions
->also often lead to overdosing

•unnecessary pain killers prescriptions by doctors(that shouldn't be prescribing),
->unless required, but it's given at the lowest levels possible
