Defintion = Irony involving a situation in which actions have an effect that is opposite from what was intended, so that the outcome is contrary to what was expected.

Examples = A fire station burns down. This is unexpected because one would assume the fire chief would keep his own building safe. A marriage counselor files for divorce.
