They would increase trade, and believed in religious tolerance/ Freedom of worship not just from a religious/moral standpoint but also that it resulted in a stronger empire, more allies. I'm sure the Muslim community suffered a lot of judgment and so that is a factor helping them to be more loving and accepting and to not be better than how people treat them.
