There are many achievements that made the Roman Empire one of the most powerful civilizations of the past. They include but are not limited to:

-Architecture

-Political organization

-Strong Military

-Vast Size

-Systemic development (ties politics and architecture)

The Romans developed many inventions and ideas that are still in use today and are commonly studied. Historians admire their meticulous architecture and urban planning. They strive to figure out how they developed settlements and established a proper republican democracy across a very vast space.

But of all the achievements, I'd say that their inventions are the greatest as their ideas and technology is still put to use today. Although there are enhancements in today's versions, we would not be able to make them without the Romans.

What do you think were the long term effects of this removal on native Americans?
o-na [289]

Indian Removal Act was passed which resulted in the forced displacement of the Native Americans to reservation lands

Explanation:

Due to the belief of Manifest destiny, Americans decided to settle in the west of the Appalachians which was the primary area of the native american tribes like Cherokee,Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee Creek and Seminole peoples. the western tribal land became valuable because it was fertile and congenial for settling. The states which saw them included in such lands pressured the federal Government to enact the Indian removal act. "trail of Tears" is the route in which the native Americans undertook their journey by foot for displacement.

During this move, many dies out of exhaustion, starvation and cold. US gained millions of square miles of territory for settling. Much of the fertile land were used for cotton production and many slaves were employed in the plantations. Thus southern economy ran basically on agriculture and slavery.

Briefly explain why Arizona sided with the confederacy during the civil war
weqwewe [10]
One of the main factors leading up to the Civil War was territorial expansion into places like Arizona and Texas, with the question being whether these new states would be free or slave. It was in Arizona's interest to side with the slave states.

Which best represents Alfred Thayer Mahan's position on US imperialism in the late 1800s?
In-s [12.5K]

Answer:

Alfred Thayer Mahan was an advocate for the United States to become involved in foreign affairs.

Explanation:

Alfred Thayer Mahan was a prominent writer in the naval and political spheres, and his theory of the connection between naval power and national power attracted attention in the marines of all countries. Historically, Mahan found that power at sea had been the key to a country's strength. But the dominion at sea, in turn, required access to remote naval bases. Mahan claimed that America for its national strength depended on a strong fleet that had access to bases in the Caribbean and the Pacific. Mahan's arguments had a greater impact on England's and Germany's naval armies than on America's, but they also had an effect on an expanded US fleet. In 1898, Theodore Roosevelt was given the opportunity to do something about Mahan's demand for naval bases during the war with Spain.
