The correct answer is 1) Approximately three-quarters of the world lived in bondage as a slave or a serf.

The statement that is true is "By the end of the 1700s, approximately three-quarters of the world lived in bondage as a slave or a serf."

Things started to change a little bit in 1641 when Massachusetts created the first legislation on slavey. Many years later, in Europe, 1781, Joseph II, the Roman Emperor ordered the abolition of serfdom in Austria. In 1789, the French Revolution declares that men are born free and have equal rights,

The british system of mercantilism was opposed by many american colonists because it
solniwko [45]

Answer:

Placed restrictions on trade

Explanation:

The mercantile system of the British opposed by the colonists because it put them under restrictions. British as an Empire required wealth. British established colonies in America so that they could gain raw materials and make profits. They did not want the Americans to gain self-dependent by engaging in trading with the other Europeans nation like the Netherlands. The British put taxes on imported goods to discourage this practice, and this forced the colonists to buy only British goods. The Navigation Acts and the Sugar Act passed to regulate the colonial trade.

What is the paradox as related to slavery in the United States?
EastWind [94]

Hey there!

The answer is A. That slavery was still allowed in a free nation.

One of the things the colonists fought for was freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of the press along with other things.

However, for hundreds of thousands of slaves torn away from their homes, they had none of these freedoms. They were considered inferior and not people.

A paradox is a statement that seems absurd of self-contradictory, which this statement very much is. If the U.S. is a free nation, then why do hundreds of thousands of people living there have no freedoms, stolen from them by the very people who advocated for their own freedom?

Hope this helps!
