(HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL) can someone PLEASE write me a final draft to the question. "Why or why not should libraries ban some books?"
romanna [79]

Essay:

Libraries should not ban certain books, like Percy Jackson or Harry Potter just because it is not politically correct; or the content is not right for certain ages. It should be up to the parent to decide what books their young children should read if they are so worried that their kids will learn bad habits from reading books.

It is also should be up to the person on what they want to read, libraries are suppose to be promoting reading to all, not limiting them on what they can read. It is ok for kids to immerse themselves in what they read. Books are something that kids do to let their imagination go wild, having no limits, if they want let them pretend that they have magic powers. If we did not have these books, the author's out their would be limited on what they want to write, not really making it fun; all life would be like is biographies and history books.

We would also not have a fictional section where all these types of books are placed, making libraries not fun to be in. This is why I think that banned books should not be banned from libraries. You are letting kids not have an imagination.

According to a website called ProCon.org  "In the 1982 Supreme Court ruling on Board of Education v. Pico, Justice Brennan wrote that taking books off of library shelves could violate students’ First Amendment rights, adding that “Local school boards may not remove books from school libraries simply because they dislike the ideas contained in those books.”

Reread these sentences from paragraph 3 wich tone do the underlined word choices give to the text.
djverab [1.8K]

Answer:

This lesson deals primarily with diction and tone and how to recognize them in your reading. Diction and tone are stylistic devices a writer uses to help a reader or listener “hear” what the writer is trying to say. Tone describes the author’s attitude toward the material, the audience, or both. According to Cliff’s Advanced Placement English Language and Composition Examination Preparation Guide, tone is similar to mood and is easier to determine in spoken language than in written language. Some words used to describe tone are playful, serious, businesslike, sarcastic, humorous, formal, ornate, and somber.

Tone is largely determined by diction or the word choices a writer makes. The process of choosing the right word involves denotation and connotation, which we will also discuss in this lesson.

Sometimes the tone is very clear, for example, when someone is obviously angry or distressed. To indicate these emotions, the writer might include words like “screaming” or “sobbing” and use exclamation points. Sometimes the tone is more subtle, though, and requires you to read closely in order to fully understand what is happening.
