Soybeans have been genetically modified to resist disease and pests, or to produce more protein, vitamins, and fat.
It is a hyperbole since the teens literally cannot eat everything in their sight of eyes, what the line meant was that they ate every food in sight, not literally everything like a table or something unedible.
