1. Authors do not always state their purpose in texts the reason being that it may be taken differently with everyone. 2. An authors expertise may effect his or her point of view by the type of writing they are most interested in. 3. The author's perspective, or viewpoint, is how the author feels about the subject. In order to determine the author's perspective, you need to figure out what opinion or attitude the author has about the subject. 4. The reader should pay attention to what the author leaves out because it may be helpful to understand why it was left out. If it was left out to make the story more dramatic or to hold suspense.

Answer:

1. Authors don't always directly state their purpose in the text because they want readers to use context clues to figure it out and sometimes stating the purpose won't fit with the theme of the text.

2. An author's expertise might affect his or her view by how knowledgeable and passionate they might be about a certain subject. The author might hold bias because of their expertise in the certain subject.

3. An author's language can help convey the perspective on a subject by using different point of views that will get the point across.

4. A reader should pay attention to information that the author chooses to leave out because it's not always going to be apparent in the text. The detail that the author left out that was insinuated could play a big part in the text.

Part A: How does the section regarding entertainment in America contribute the the development of ideas in the text?
natulia [17]

Answer:

The Great Depression was the worst economic downturn in US history. It began in 1929 and did not abate until the end of the 1930s.

The stock market crash of October 1929 signaled the beginning of the Great Depression. By 1933, unemployment was at 25 percent and more than 5,000 banks had gone out of business.

Although President Herbert Hoover attempted to spark growth in the economy through measures like the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, these measures did little to solve the crisis.

Franklin Roosevelt was elected president in November 1932. Inaugurated as president in March 1933, Roosevelt’s New Deal offered a new approach to the Great Depression.
