The 1960 Presidential debate between Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy was the first televised presidential debate in the history of the United States. Therefore it was the first time that candidates were forced to adequate their language and manners due to the cameras. Kennedy started to question Nixon's proposals, while the former adopted a passive attitude, agreeing to some of the statements that Kennedy said.

The overall impression of the debate was the Kennedy had won it. The way he handled himself during the debate was better than Nixon's.
