18) 3(3x - y) = 9x - y is the question

Distribute 3 to all terms within the parenthesis (3x and -y). Remember to bring the sign.

3(3x) = 9x

3(-y) = -3y

9x - 3y ≠ 9x - y

19) Write the missing numbers in the pattern below:

7, __, 21, __, 35, 42

From what we can see of the numbers next to each other (35 & 42), subtract the two numbers

42 - 35 = 7.

As you can see, the number is 7. Subtract 7 from 35

35 - 7 = 28

Subtract 7 from 28

28 - 7 = 21

Subtract 7 from 21

21 - 7 = 14

you're two answers are bolded & underlined: 7, <u>14</u>, 21, <u>28</u>, 35, 42

hope this helps

Furkat [3]

The specified function's vertex form is g(x) = 4(x+5)^2 - 100

<h3>What is vertex form of a quadratic equation?</h3>

If a quadratic equation is written in the form

y=a(x-h)^2 + k

then it is called to be in vertex form. It is called so because when you plot this equation's graph, you will see vertex point(peak point) is on (h,k)

<h3>What is a perfect square polynomial?</h3>

If a polynomial p(x) can be written as:

p(x) = [f(x)]^2

where f(x) is also a polynomial, then p(x) is called as perfect square polynomial

For the considered case, the polynomial specified is;

g(x)  = 40x + 4x^2

  • Case 1: Converting to vertex form

g(x)  = 40x + 4x^2\\g(x) = 4(x^2 + 10) = 4(x^2 + 10 + 25 -25)\\g(x) = 4(x^2 + 10 + 25) - 100 = 4(x+5)^2 - 100\\

Thus, the vertex form of the considered polynomial is g(x) = 4(x+5)^2 - 100

  • Case 2: Converting to standard form

Standard form of a quadratic polynomial is ax^2 + bx + c

Thus, we get: the considered polynomial in standard form as:

g(x) = 4x^2 +40x

  • Case 3: Factoring the first two terms of polynomial

g(x) = 40x + 4x^2 \\g(x) = 4x(10 + x)

  • Case 4: Forming a perfect square trinomial

The considered polynomial has only two terms, therefore, its not a trinomial.

Thus,  the specified function's vertex form is g(x) = 4(x+5)^2 - 100

Find the lateral surface area of the cylinder. Round your answer to the nearest tenth.
GuDViN [60]

Answer:

113.1 unit²

Step-by-step explanation:

A cylinder is a shape with two round ends and two parallel lines connecting the round ends.

Height=9  unit, Base=4 unit

The lateral surface area of a cylinder (A) is given by the equation:

A=2\pi rh

where r is the radius of the cylinder and h is the height of the cylinder.

Given that the base = 4 unit, therefore the diameter (d) = base = 4 unit. Also the height (h) = 9 unit.

Radius (r) = d/2 = 4/2 = 2 unit

Calculating the area of the cylinder is as follows

A=2\pi rh\\A=2\pi*2*9\\A=113.1

The area of the cylinder is 113.1 unit²

PLEASE HELP ! worth 18 points :)
leonid [27]

Answer:

x = 6.6

Step-by-step explanation:

law of cosines:

x² = b² + c² - 2ac · cosX

x² = 5² + 8² - 2(5 · 8) · cos 55°

x² = 25 + 64 - 80· cos 55°

x² = 25 + 64 - 45.89

x² = 89 - 45.89

x² = 43.11

x = √43.11

x ≈ 6.6
