Was in the National Forest with my camera. The day was crisp and the leaves were bright with fall colors. When I spotted the whi

te-tailed buck, I froze. He was less than 15 yards from where I was standing. The wind must have been right, because he kept on grazing on the mossy ground. I lifted my camera very slowly. Carefully, holding my breath, I lifted the camera to my eye. Turning the focus ring, I framed the deer’s head. Just as I was ready to press the shutter release, the buck raised his head. He was looking my way with wide eyes. Click—I took the picture. An instant later the deer bounded away into the forest. He took off, but I had the shot. Today, the framed photo of that buck hangs above our fireplace.
What is the main idea of this piece? What are the clues? What does the author imply? If you think it is about a photo that was very important to the writer, you’re right. How does the last line help you make that inference?

Answer:

This is what I would answer if it were my assignment:

The main idea is about this person who captured a moment that was very valuable to them. The clues show because of the detail with which he remembers the day. The last line shows that the person has the picture above the fireplace, and that is usually a room that people associate with family, and happy warm memories and people will see things there. So that is a precious place to put something

Hope this helps :)

Answer:

The truth was that Jay Gatsby of West Egg, Long Island, sprang from his Platonic conception of himself. He was a son of God—a phrase which, if it means anything, means just that—and he must be about His Father’s business, the service of a vast, vulgar, and meretricious beauty. So he invented just the sort of Jay Gatsby that a seventeen-year-old boy would be likely to invent, and to this conception he was faithful to the end.

What is the central idea of putting good deeds in headlines may not be so good
kondor19780726 [428]

Answer:

Reporting on good deeds may change society’s expectations about performing them.

Explanation:

"Putting Good Deeds in Headlines May Not Be So Good" is an article written by Tovia Smith. In his report, Smith says that when good deeds are publicized, one dimishes the value of being good or doing good deeds. While interviewing an expert, the expert said to Smith that when the good deeds, which should be an ordinary norm, is portrayed as extraordinary, it brings moral inflation. Performing good deeds should not be made an extraordinary thing as it poses the danger of creating expectations of not doing good.

People should perform good deeds as a normal standard, as a human being, and not to get a celebrity treatment.

Thus, the central idea of the article is that reporting about good deeds pose the threat of changing society's view on performing them as well.

2. Summarizing

Explanation:

In analyzing, the content is examined methodically and in detail for interpretation.

Summarizing includes just a brief statement of the main point in the content.

Paraphrasing is the technique of expressing the main idea of the original content by using different words in order to have greater clarity.

Quoting is repeating the same words of the original content by giving credit to the author who originally wrote them.

The technique used by Catherine is summarizing as she wrote just a brief statement in her report to give the main gist of the original content.
