Luis Contreras spoke to the fact that children of migrant works were unable to be in school long enough to get a good education. Having to move about with their parents who were in search of work meant that they could be pulled from school at any point in the school years which would affect their ability to successfully grasp the lessons being taught. Also, because moving was unpredictable they could be placed in schools in the middle of the year which made it difficult for them to grasp what may have been taught prior to their arrival.
