People are still fascinated with stories about the "Devil" and his power over humans because it is something that is still relatable and relevant to our culture today. Religion is something that has never died our and is still a "hot topic" for a lot of people. They also can be entertaining. A book based on the Devil's control is definitely going to be more interesting than a book on beetle shells.
