He served with Martin Luther King to end segregation, founded  congress of Racial Equality (CORE) and served as its national chairman for two years (1942-1944) He was the first person to organise freedom ride in 1961 that led to the end of segregation in interstate transportation. Farmer is known as one of the biggest civil rights leader along with Martin Luther king, Roy Wilkins and Whitney Young.
