Water is highly valuable in Eastern and South Africa because it is too expensive for the government to afford in a time of drought. Therefore, when they build water pumping stations to provide them with enough water, they need to place the wells in a specific location that is easily accessible for the local people to travel to and get enough for their family that is sufficient enough to last them the whole day.

Explain one of the structure that hydraulic engineering is involved in
zheka24 [161]

Answer:

Hydraulic engineering is just a part of civil engineering. It is based on flow and conveyance of fluids, mainly water and sewage. It can be seen as an application of fluid mechanics for taking care of problems arising during storage, transport, regulation, measurement and use of water. This is needed while designing dams, canals, or cooling water facilities for thermal power plants.

this fossil was found in a dry, mountainous area. What can you infer about how the area has changed over time?
WINSTONCH [101]

Fossils are the remains of plants and animals that have been preserved for millennia in stones under the Earth's surface. They contain the long chapters of the history of our Earth. Fossils tell us what the earth looked like many millions of years ago, what kind of animals and plants lived on its surface and how it was changing. Fossils show us a history of over a billion years old.

From the fossil from a dry, mountainous area we can conclude that the area was once underwater and over time the soil has risen as result of continental drift and uplift. So, a mountain was once the bottom of a prehistoric ocean or sea.
