The Deccan Plateau is located in Southern India in-between two mountain ranges which are the  the Western Ghats and the Eastern Ghats and the Deccan Plateau covers most of South India.  It extends over eight Indian states  Telangana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
