Pleasure v. Ferguson is one of the most famous Supreme Court cases of the 19th century. 

This case helped African American people by bringing in a new doctrine to public educational facilities (such as public schools) called "Separate, but equal"

It was one of the most effective movements towards the end of racial segregation, and even though it still didn't allow black students to go to the same schools white students go to, it provided them with equal level of education and treatment.
