- Being one of the original 13 colonies

- Fighting for independence

- Located more towards the northern section (which meant a build up in factories and fishing industries)

It affected the society because Martin Luther King was a very good leader who wasn't afraid of advocating for human rights, especially Black people human rights. When he got killed, that affected the society because people feared that if they advocated for people rights, they would get shot and killed just as MLK did.
