We have an triangle:
base=4 in
height=3 in,
This triangle can be dividided into two equal triangles, we need calculate the hypotenuse.
leg₁=4 in/2=2 in
leg₂=3 in

Pythagoras law:
hypotenuse²=leg₁²+leg₂²
hypotenuse²=(2 in)²+(3 in)²
hypotenuse²=4 in²+9 in²
hypotenuse²=13 in²
hypotenuse=√13 in.

Now, we can find the surface area.
Surface area=2 *(rectangle area)+base area + 2(triangle area)
rectangle area=10 in x √13 in=10√13 in²
base area=10 in  x 4 in=40 in²
Triangle area=(4 in x 3 in)/2=6 in²

Surface area=2(10√13 in²)+40 in²+2(6 in²)=(20√13+52) in²≈124.11 in²

Answer: 124.11 in²

What is the tangent ratio for angle A?
Rasek [7]
Hi there!

Tangent = opposite/adjacent

The side opposite angle A is side CB, which equals 6.
The side adjacent to angle A is side CA, which equals 8.

Therefore, the tangent ratio of angle A is 6/8, or 3/4.

The correct answer is OPTION D.

Hope this helps!! :)

Will give brainliest! Use a table of values to find the solution to the equation ƒ(x ) = h(x ) where f(x)= \frac{1}{x+1} and h(x
Maslowich

I'm assuming that you meant:

1

f(x) = -------- and that you want to find the value of x at which f(x) = h(x).

x+1

Of course you could create a table for each f(x) and h(x), but setting f(x)=h(x) and solving for x algebraically would be faster and more efficient:

1

f(x) = -------- = 2x + 3 = h(x). Then 1 = (x+1)(2x+3) = 2x^2 + 3x + 2x + 3

x+1

or 1 = 2x^2 + 5x + 3, or 2x^2 + 5x + 2 = 0.

This is a quadratic equation with a=2, b=5 and c=2. The discriminant is b^2-4ac, or 5^2-4(2)(2), OR 25-16= 9.

Thus, the roots are

-5 plus or minus sqrt(9)

x = ------------------------------------

2(2)

-5 plus or minus 3

= ----------------------------------

4

= {-1/2, -2}

Thus, f(x) = h(x) at both x=-1/2 and x= -2.
