Consider the individuals in George Orwell’s “Shooting an Elephant” and Doris Lessing’s “No Witchcraft for Sale” who are essentia

lly powerless in their respective societies. How do these individuals behave? What do they do to those who have power in their societies? Why do these people act as they do, and what does their behavior demonstrate about imperialism as a political and social ideology? Use examples from the works you have read in your response.

In both pieces, the main characters are both forced to accept racism, discrimination, and prejudice even if their individual morals hate these practices. In their minds, they criticize those who have power. Orwell had to obey authorities. Gideon and Teddy had to cope with the arguments of their elders. People act upon an agreed value because of pressure and reputation. Imperialism is shown when people think staying in power or with those that have power is way to survival.

I need a paragraph about how less gun laws would result in a safer community. pls help
Anettt [7]
I think less gun laws would make a safer community because that way you could protect yourself from individual(s) who are possibly trying to attack you. Or if you wanted to go hunting you should have every right to go hunting. Even though that means more people could have more guns that means more protection and if people know how to use a gun properly there should be no issues. I think people who have a violent criminal history background should not be able to legally own a gun but I think for the people who have little to no violent criminal history background should have the right to own a gun I think people should have the full right to protect themselves and their family against certain people who have a dangerous weapon on them and trying to use it against them.

Even in moments of weakness, we are still responsible for our actions. Do you agree with this statement? Explain you perspective
statuscvo [17]

Answer:

Yes, I do agree with this. I know from experience myself. I've done some bad things and at that moment I blamed it on the people I was hanging around or other things, but looking back I realize that I am in control of my own body, no body else. No body made me make the decision I did, it was all me. And in times of weakness is when we are most vulnerable to make these bad decisions. This can occur when drinking and smoking, or simple hanging out with friends. Studies have shown that people think different and act different when drinking, drugs, or peer pressure is involved. For example, normally I wouldn't smoke, but if I am with my friends and they are, then yes most likely I will too. I was in a time of weakness, but as humans we have to learn to say no sometimes.
