ok so I kinda got a little confused I can tell you that Americans planted Victory Gardens in which they grew their own food... These were issued ration stamps that were used to buy their allotment of everything from meat sugar fat butter vegetables and fruit to gas tires clothing and fuel oil

Florida took time in becoming a state because it faced the same dilemma as Missouri as it entered the Union.  They had to wait for a certain period of time to ensure that the balance between Free State and slave remains intact.  They became a state when Iowa was admitted into the Union which was a free state thereby maintaining the balance.
