Motivation in literature is said to be the reason behind the behavior or the action of a character. This is shown in the willingness of a character to consent to do something. Characters usually have motivation to do something and act.
Motivation is of two types, which are: intrinsic and extrinsic.
Intrinsic motivation means personal pleasure, interest as well as enjoyment and it is usually inspired by an internal reward which can be; emotional peace, knowledge or pride. while extrinsic motivation comes from some reward such as money, lust or power.
