What did Antony say to the people at the funeral in his now famous "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears" speech?
shtirl [24]

Answer:

Antony called the men who had murdered Julius Caesar as "<em>honorable men</em>", and did not try to openly criticize or lessen the people's love and respect for Brutus and the other conspirators.

Explanation:

William Shakespeare's tragedy play "Julius Caesar" revolves around the murder of Caesar and the events that follow afterwards, the fight for power of Rome and the eventual death of the murderers themselves.

When mark Antony requested to speak to the people after the death of Julius Caesar, he was told by Brutus not to badmouth them nor instigate them in doing anything rash to the conspirators. So, when he took to the stage and addressed the people, he called the murderers "<em>honorable men</em>", calling Brutus "<em>noble</em>" and imploring to them why they feel so much love for their dead leader. He kept on repeating the words "<em>Yet Brutus says he was ambitious</em>", emphasizing on the very act and decision of Brutus for the fate of Caesar.

Scholars now understand that effective speeches are speaker oriented, despite the fact that traditional approaches to speech planning were listener centric. An explicit statement of what you want your audience to understand, believe, or do is referred to as a speech aim.

When writing, practising, and delivering the speech, the speaker should keep the audience in mind at all times. If the speaker does her job successfully, the audience will concentrate on the subject matter as it should be.

(english literature 50 points) how was the declaration of independence relevant to the colonial era and the age of reason? form
timama [110]

The synopsis is as follows:

The Declaration of Independence was approved by Congress on 4 July 1776. The declaration mentioned the separation of the 13 colonies from Britain, it had a massive impact on the history of America, the end of the colonial regime, and the end of Britain ruling America.

Taking the perspective of the people living in the colonies, were not happy because of a variety of reasons some of them are that they did not have a say in their governance, and in no circumstances could they avoid paying taxes. It took Americans a lot of time and collective movements to agree on independence from Britain rule. The relevance of the Declaration of Independence would be the official steps taken to end the colonial era.

The Age of reason helped in the shaping of the Declaration of Independence, three main points in this are Equality, liberty, and individualism. When the declaration had been drafted, at this period individual rights were unheard of and this is the relevance of the age of reason with the Declaration.

Colonial-era of British rule in the 13 colonies established in the 16th century or early 17th century. The age of reason was written by Thomas Paine, it was a series of pamphlets, this series was popularly called the age of reason. The British came to fear the rise in political radicalism, making the British prosecute printers who tried publishing the book. The age of reason hence woke Americans for a movement of change.

The age of reason provoked negative responses from most readers as well as the British, these enlightenment ideas highlighted that each citizen has a right to autonomy, reason, and the notion of equality. And this was its role in the Declaration of independence.
