1) The telegraph was a great invention during this era. Before this invention, many letters would not have been sent in time to inform generals of retreats and advancements. A lot more conflict could have started if the telegraph had not been invented.

2) Having a desire to win a war is essential to success. One British disadvantage during the American Revolution was that the soldiers were in a place they did not know and had no desire to fight for a cause the did not care about. Photography is a great median to tell the stories of what is going on in your life and sparked a desire for the war effort.

4) All I know is that the British had turned the tea company into a monopoly

5) Before these famous photos, Africans and people of all races other than white for that matter were seen as lower class, sometimes seen as nothing more than animals. Because of these photos the general population was able to see the torture and torment these people were going through and encouraged people to get on board to help fight the living conditions of these Africans and all people.

What were some of the negative consequences of the TVA's activities?
Fiesta28 [93]

Private companies and independent firms believe that the TVA is a government-run monopoly selling electricity in bulk at low rates making it difficult for them to compete with the TVA.  Apart from that their low rates enable them to be spared from taxation.

Explain how Frederick I and Frederick William I were able to enhance Prussia's reputation in
MAXImum [283]
Prussia was a strange little country. For most of its life, it was all split up. Ducal Prussia in the East was held by the Elector of Brandenburg, while royal Prussia in the West was part of Poland. By the beginning of the 18th century, the Hohenzollern family held firm control over both Brandenburg and Ducal Prussia, but it was always seeking to expand and collect more territory. In 1701, Elector Frederick III received the title 'King in Prussia' as a reward for helping the Holy Roman Emperor and Austrian ruler Leopold I, and the Kingdom of Prussia officially began.

Over the next several decades, Prussia grew in power, politically and militarily. The next king, Frederick William I, who reigned from 1713 to 1740, built up a massive army. He started out with about 38,000 soldiers in 1713, but by the time of his death, Prussia was a military powerhouse with over 80,000 well-trained soldiers.

The king's successor, Frederick II, at first seemed unlikely to make good use of all that military might. The new king styled himself as an 'enlightened' monarch. He studied the ideas of the Enlightenment, wrote essays on political philosophy, played and composed music and patronized the arts. Frederick II, however, was no wimp. He had an aggressive side, as we shall soon see.
