What is one possible disadvantage of hearing the characters’ voices as opposed to silently reading the scene?

Not being able to envision the scene as you see it in your head, you may not be comprehending the scene at the same speed as the readers are reading, and you can't re-read the passage to understand as well as when you're reading silently.
