Answer:

Homework can cause stress because students don't have time for extracurricular activities to freshen them up .

Explanation:

The mentality that students should be given homework so that they study at home has resulted in kids getting a ton of homework.

So, the kids get overwhelmed and the competitive environment in school also heightens this stress

Then, they spend hours trying to complete these homework, but this lack of physical activity leads to creativity blockade and they cant perform well. So, homeworks do cause stress.

How does indirect characterization take place in this excerpt from Gaston Leroux's The Phantom of the Opera? He found them both
vaieri [72.5K]

Answer:

The correct option is C. through the characters’ appearance.

Explanation:

Note: This question is not complete as the options are omitted. The complete question is therefore provided before answering the question as follows:

How does indirect characterization take place in this excerpt from Gaston Leroux’s The Phantom of the Opera?

He found them both looking extremely worried. Their own friends did not recognize them: they had lost all their gaiety and spirits. They were seen crossing the stage with hanging heads, care-worn brows, pale cheeks, as though pursued by some abominable thought or prey to some persistent sport of fate.

A. through the characters’ speech

B. through the characters’ thoughts

C. through the characters’ appearance

D. through the characters’ actions

Explanation of the answer is now provided as followed:

Indirect characterization can be described as the practice of describing a character through that character's dialogue, actions, thoughts, speech, and appearance. This sort of characterization is used by authors to help readers come to their own judgments about a character.

In the excerpt, the words "hanging heads," "care-worn brows," and "pale cheeks" are used to describe the characters' appearance.

Therefore, the correct option is C. through the characters’ appearance.

In Twain's "The Private History of a campaign that failed," Smith, the blacksmith's apprentice, is given the "ultimate credit" for sticking up to the war, where he was killed.

Below is the exact quotation derived from Twain's story about Smith, the blacksmith's apprentice:

<span>"However, he had one ultimate credit to his account which some of us hadn't. He stuck to the war and was killed in battle at last."</span>
