The Tang dynasty restored China's strength by expanding the empire to the Nothern and Western side. These lands had been lost after the decline of the Han dynasty. Military campaigns by Taizong further extended the borders of Chine to Vietnam in the South. Taizong also reformed the government organisation and law code. The Tang dynasty further expanded road and canal networks which promoted foreign trade and improved agriculture.
