They were under the Northern Command, also known as USNORTHCOM. They conduct homeland defense, civil support, and protection of territory. USNORTHCOM was established when <span>President George W. Bush approved of a new Unified Command Plan on April 25, 2002. They provide support to Alaska, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, and United States itself.</span>
