One of the things one needs to do when performing research is vet a possible source by determining whether or not the source is biased.  Sources should be free of “slant” and only communicate the factual information.  Thus, opinion should not be present.  We can see opinion in the excerpt with “We rejoice that old Brown has been hung” and “We hope his fate may be a warning…” Thus, this article is “slanted”/biased, therefore, not credible and should not be included in research because its inclusion would make your writing non-credible because of the use of a slanted/biased source.
