Plants breathe via tiny pores known as stomata that are present underneath the leaves. These pores permit CO2 to get in and O2 to move out. Plants close and open their stomata on the basis of the modifications in their surroundings so that they can receive the required carbon dioxide, and prevent drying out conditions.
Thus, the concentrations of carbon dioxide are one of the key elements in controlling the process of photosynthesis. For photosynthesis to take place carbon dioxide is made to enter via the pores, and when stomata get closed it diminishes the concentration of carbon dioxide that the plants take in and thus reducing the rate of photosynthesis.
Closing the stomata reduces the amount of carbon dioxide that the plant can take in through its leaves, which will most likely result in <span>a decreased rate of photosynthesis.</span>
