Janae is standing at a distance of 9 feet from the bottom of pole

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

The flag pole, and the point where Janae is standing and the ground forms a right angled triangle

The figure is attached below

ABC is a right angled triangle

AB is the height of pole

AB = 12 feet

C is the point where Janae is standing

AC is the distance from the top of the pole to a point on the ground where Janae is standing

AC = 15 feet

BC is the distance between bottom of pole and the point on the ground where Janae is standing

We have to find BC

We can use pythagoras theorem for right angled triangle

Pythagorean theorem, states that the square of the length of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of squares of the lengths of other two sides of the right-angled triangle.

By above definition for right angled angle triangle ABC,

AC^2 = AB^2+BC^2

Substituting the values we get,

15^2=12^2+BC^2\\\\225 = 144 + BC^2\\\\BC^2 = 225-144\\\\BC^2=81\\\\\text{Taking square root on both sides }\\\\BC = 9

Thus she is standing at a distance of 9 feet from the bottom of pole

From the set {1, 2, 6}, use substitution to determine which value of x makes the equation true. 20 - 3x = 2
stepan [7]

Answer:

\large\boxed{x=6}

Step-by-step explanation:

\text{Put x = 1, x = 2 and x = 6 to the equation 20 - 3x = 2:}\\\\for\ x=1:\\\\L_s=20-3(1)=20-3=17\\R_s=2\\L_s\neq R_s\\\boxed{NO}\\\\for\ x=2:\\\\L_s=20-3(2)=20-6=14\\R_s=2\\L_s\neq R_s\\\boxed{NO}\\\\for\ x=6:\\\\L_s=20-3(6)=20-18=2\\R_s=2\\L_s=R_s\\\boxed{YES}

Which of the following is not an example of using the distributive property to multiply 12 times 22?
s2008m [1.1K]
That would be : 10(2 * 22)

because 12(20 + 2) = 12 x 22.....and 22(10 + 2) = 22 x 12
whereas, 10(2 * 22) = 10 x 44

Asif wants to rewrite 28+49 using the greatest common factor and the distributive property
Papessa [141]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

28 = 7 *4

49 = 7 * 7

GCF = 7

28 + 49 = (7*4) + (7*7)

             = 7*(4 + 7)
