Explain Atticus’s comment that, “Every mob in every little Southern town is always made up of people you know—doesn’t say much f
Pavlova-9 [17]

Atticus explains to Scout that a mob is always made up of people. He is trying to explain that, although mobs appear to be a large group, perhaps even an intimidating group, they are made up of individuals who can make individual choices to change their actions. This is a message that Atticus has been sending to Scout throughout the book at various points. Every individual has the right to make his or her own choices.

In this particular mob, Mr. Cunningham made an individual choice not to continue to threaten Atticus. His choice influenced the choices of the other men in the group. This is a powerful moment because Mr. Cunningham made this choice based on Scout's innocent actions to begin conversing with him about his son, Walter. As a result, his opinion changed, and he then changed the opinions of the other men. It was a mob no more. Any small action can change the tide of a mob, either positively or negatively.

WILL GIVE BRAINLY
NemiM [27]
Psychology Major here! :) Hope this helps:

1) Up to date, there is still no definite answer when it comes the capacity of information a brain can withhold - it is truly unlimited.

2) The size of a brain varies between species and its capacity to retain information varies as well.

3) Humans have the most complex psychological process to understand, however, there are many other species who have incredible cognitive intelligence. (Such as dolphins, for example.)

4) When damage is done to a certain side of the brain and there is a need to remove the damaged area, there is a possibility that the undamaged parts of the brain can take over the same functions as the removed area. (Therefore, for example, the remaining part of your brain can still nearly function to a maximum capacity depending of the severity of damage... as well as area).

5) The brain named itself "brain".
(The brain controls you, but you control the brain.)

Read this line from the text: Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that
GalinKa [24]
Well I can answer what the word beast suggests about the text.
I think it is suggests that they don't know much about the people of Mars, the life forms that lived there so they are frightened of them. They know that they are intelligent, or were, but also acknowledge how the planet is nearly impossible to sustain life with all of its water frozen.
Hope that helped, I don't know much about English class in highschool yet so I wasn't sure exactly how to answer the question.
